Questions before you book

Clear answers on nail health, hygiene, booking, longevity, and what to expect at City Nails & Beauty.

Nail Health & Safety

When nails are applied, maintained, and removed properly, damage should be minimal. Most problems come from picking, peeling, at-home removal, or previous poor work. We prep gently, choose the right system for your nails, and remove product carefully to help protect the natural nail underneath.
Tools are sanitised between clients, fresh files and other single-use items are used where needed, and workstations are cleaned down for every appointment. We also check hands and feet before starting. If we see signs of infection, irritation, or anything unsafe to work over, we will decline the service and recommend medical advice first.
Yes. We work with many nail types, including short nails, weak nails, peeling nails, and nails growing out from previous damage. Depending on your goals, we may recommend a strengthening service like BIAB or an extension service for added shape and length. If there are visible signs of infection, we will not cover them up and will recommend a doctor instead.
Nails themselves do not breathe, but the condition of the natural nail and surrounding skin still matters. Healthy prep, correct product choice, proper removals, and good aftercare make more difference than leaving product off for a set number of days.

Results, Wear & Aftercare

Wear time depends on the service, your lifestyle, and aftercare. Standard polish is best for shorter wear, while gel, BIAB, SNS, and extensions usually last longer when maintained properly. Wearing gloves for chores, avoiding picking, and using cuticle oil will help. If something chips or lifts soon after your visit, contact the salon promptly so we can advise on the best next step.
They suit different goals. Shellac and gel polish are ideal for colour and shine on natural nails, BIAB is a strengthening builder gel, acrylic is best when you want structure or extra length, and SNS is a dip system often chosen for lightweight strength. If you are unsure, we can help match the service to your nail condition and the look you want.
Yes. Bringing a reference photo is encouraged, especially for nail art, colour direction, shape, or finish ideas. It gives us a clearer starting point and helps us explain what is achievable in your appointment time and budget.
Arrive with clean hands and feet where possible, bring any inspiration photos you want us to work from, and let us know if you currently have product on your nails or any sensitivity we should know about. If you are booking nail art or a bigger change, allowing a little extra time is always helpful.

Booking & Policies

You can book online to see live availability, and walk-ins are welcome when we have space. The current booking flow does not require a deposit and payment is made in salon. If you need to change your appointment, it is best to contact the salon as early as possible so your time can be offered to someone else.
Walk-ins are welcome when availability allows, but appointments are recommended if you want a specific time or a longer service. Booking ahead is the best option for nail art, full sets, multiple services, and busy times such as weekends.
Yes. Online booking is the quickest way to check what is available that day. If you are flexible on timing or you want to ask about a service before booking, contact the salon directly and we will help where we can.
That is common, especially for first-time clients. Choose the closest option you can, then bring a photo or explain the look, length, or finish you want. We can guide you on the day and let you know if a different service or add-on would suit better.
